Folding Doors

 

Folding doors are convenient for the homeowner to operate and offer a great way to achieve privacy. Folding doors can be factory produced in mass or can be custom made to the space of the room where they need to be installed. They can include two panels and as many as seven or more panels. Multi-fold doors are needed in areas that are large and require a long spread. These are perfect for home application or commercial use. Many times, there are used as hall or room dividers. This commercial application makes it easy to join two separate rooms just by opening the folding doors.

There are a variety of styles and designs including French folding doors, craftsman styles, raised panel doors, and many other traditional or modern styles. Wood types can include cherry, alder, maple, hickory, mahogany, ash, poplar, walnut, oak, European beech, and birch. Many times, it could be a custom-made material that the homeowner chooses, such as reclaimed woods from barns.

Custom made work will be a bit more expensive than readily available commercial units. Styles can include flat or raised panels, mirrors, glass, or wood inserts. Some designs are very ornate while others offer a simple and organic look. Hinge finishes for these doors can include polished brass, pewter, antique brass, polished chrome, flat black or white, satin chrome, satin nickel, rust, satin steel, copper, and oil rubbed bronze.
