Patio Doors

 

There is a variety of patio door styles on the market. A range of designs is available to complement a home's architectural features and décor. Different materials and colors make it easy to find the right patio door. Patio doors offer a measure of security, privacy, and easy access to an entertainment area. When selecting the appropriate patio door there are many factors to consider such as size of the area, and the exposure of the door to the elements. Coastal areas will need durable materials and protective coatings, as well as well insulated tempered glass. Areas that are exposed too much sunlight will benefit from energy efficient patio doors. A large space will be more suitable to french patio doors, while a smaller space will benefit from a sliding door style.

Hinged patio doors can be found in separate units or as pre-hung units. A combination of two panels/doors usually will make up a french patio door or a folding door, accordion door. They can be of wood, aluminum, vinyl, or other plastic material or have glass inserts. Sliding doors are entirely made of glass and then slide passing each other to offer access to the outside. Glass can be double pane, insulated, energy efficient, colored, etched, with patterns or ornate templates, and in many other beautiful and elegant designs. Hardware can also be ornate, classic, and traditional or more modern and with simple lines.
